bug in WordPress 2.8

There has been a bug reported in the latest WordPress version 2.8, but the strangest thing is that not everyone who upgrades to WordPress 2.8 encounters this problem.

The problem occurs when automatically updating plugins and it probably has to do with wrong write permissions, so it does not happen with everyone.

What happens?

Once you click on automatically update plugin, you will see the following message:

Unpacking the update.
Incompatible archive PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Invalid archive structure

The solution

If it is happening to you then fortunately there is an easy solution: go to WordPress Trac and download the fixed http.php file. Upload this file into your wp-includes directory and refresh your page.

Updating your plugins should now be working again!
